Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dougie Poynter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dougie Poynter!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rage feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rage is looking to work some ground and pound but Poynter has wrist control.
Poynter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Poynter pulls Rage in close to prevent any damage.
Rage looking to pass the guard.
Rage showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Rage will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rage wants to pass the guard but Poynter is keeping the position.

Rage avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Poynter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Rage wants the takedown. Poynter is fighting it off but Rage persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Poynter's guard against the cage.

Rage slips nicely into half guard.
Poynter is staying active underneath Rage, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rage is breathing heavily.
Rage tries to control but Poynter wriggling away.
Rage unloads with some shots from mount but Poynter bucks and avoids them well.

Poynter bucks up and throws Rage to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Dougie Poynter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rage looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rage is tying to control. Poynter wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Poynter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rage!

Poynter manages to capitalize on a mistake by Rage to take his back!

Rage is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Poynter gets his way!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on Rage's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Poynter throws a head kick but Rage moves out of range.

Poynter is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rage pulls his head out easily.
John Rage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rage content to control rather than advance.
Rage is looking to take a break and control but Poynter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rage is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Poynter looks to land a combination. Rage sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like John Rage has been cut.

Rage fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rage throws a right and a left that both miss.

Poynter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rage wants to control but Poynter is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Poynter seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Poynter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rage circles away.
Horrible takedown by Rage or perhaps it was just good defense by Poynter which made him look bad.

and Rage counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

I would just about give that final round to Dougie Poynter.
I think Poynter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
