PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomo Fukasawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tomo Fukasawa is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Christopher Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomo Fukasawa!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fukasawa was well out of range. Poor timing from Ross.
Fukasawa throws a body punch but Ross moves out of range.
Fukasawa looks to land a left hand but Ross moved out of range nicely.
Ross definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ross lands a jab to Fukasawa's midsection.
Fukasawa throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fukasawa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ross defends well and Fukasawa ends up having to push Ross into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Fukasawa is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Ross lands a knee to the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Ross.
Fukasawa misses with some punches.
Fukasawa tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ross just stands there and leans against the cage.
Fukasawa looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Ross prevents Fukasawa from breaking the clinch.

Ross breaks the clinch.

Ross gets a double leg takedown into Fukasawa's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ross decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fukasawa, up you get!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fukasawa throws a combination that misses
and Ross counters with a good low kick that Fukasawa was not able to check.

Ross scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Ross stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Fukasawa looks winded!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ross lands a high kick!
Tomo Fukasawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fukasawa throws a right hand that Ross ducks under and follows up with a left that Ross also avoids with ease.

Ross gets a double leg takedown into Fukasawa's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ross's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fukasawa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ross sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Fukasawa working for a triangle but Ross defends it easily.
Ross controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ross has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Christopher Ross wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Fukasawa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A combination from Fukasawa does no damage.

Ross lands a big head kick that sends Fukasawa tumbling to the mat! Ross takes a step backwards and waves Fukasawa back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Fukasawa is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fukasawa gets caught flat footed, as Ross shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fukasawa is still in real trouble! Can Ross finish him?
Ross passes Fukasawa's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fukasawa tries to kick Ross off but Ross keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Fukasawa tries to get to full guard but Ross has control of the leg.
Fukasawa seems to have recovered his senses.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ross in particular looking to stall.
Ross knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fukasawa on the ground.
Fukasawa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Fukasawa actively working from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ross tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fukasawa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ross lands a nice short elbow.

Ross is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fukasawa doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ross.

Fukasawa has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Ross. Oh but Fukasawa has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Ross goes limp - he's gone! Fukasawa jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tomo Fukasawa!
