PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Furious George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lamb of God - Descending kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Masahiko Kimura has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Furious George!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
George misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kimura.
Kimura just misses with a punch to the body.
Kimura shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with George but George pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kimura looks to score with a jab to the body but George is just out of range.
George misses with a wild combination.
George tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kimura swivels and escapes.
George throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kimura sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kimura takes one to the side of the head.
Kimura keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
George takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
George shoots in looking for a takedown but Kimura manages to keep the fight standing, pushing George's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

George throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

George shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kimura manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
George is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kimura had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. George defends it easily.

Kimura has his foot on George's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. George works his way back into a safe position though.
Kimura bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in George's guard.

Kimura is pushing down on George's leg trying to pass to half guard. George is fighting to maintain full guard but Kimura has managed to sneak the leg through.

George felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Kimura is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because George is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We've been hearing good reports from Kimura's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

George is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Kimura is staying active.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Masahiko Kimura will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Masahiko Kimura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Furious George.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

George changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kimura tries to avoid it but George manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kimura to the ground. Kimura escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

George bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kimura's head backwards.

George throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kimura's waist but Kimura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing George off to one side.

Kimura feints and as George raises his hands in defense, Kimura changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

George slips a nice elbow through Kimura's hands, connecting with Kimura's forehead.

I would just about give that final round to Furious George.
I think Kimura has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
