Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lj Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gibbs comes to the cage accompanied by LJ Gibbs. Mason has chosen Kavinsky - Nightcall as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs moves in looking to clinch but Mason pushes him off.
Gibbs fails with the takedown

and Mason counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Gibbs down! Mason is looking to finish but Gibbs is intelligently defending himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mason has gone for a leg lock! Gibbs slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mason's guard.

Gibbs wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.

Gibbs keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mason's head.
Gibbs seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Lj Gibbs wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Gibbs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mason swivels and escapes.
Gibbs closes the distance and clinches up with Mason, looking for a takedown. Gibbs pushes Mason against the cage but Mason circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lj Gibbs. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mason gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Gibbs's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Gibbs wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.

Gibbs gets to his feet. Mason looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gibbs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mason defends well and Gibbs ends up having to push Mason into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Gibbs decides to pull guard.
Gibbs throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mason looking to improve position, pressing down on Gibbs's thigh with his hand. Gibbs seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Mason paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Mason's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Gibbs picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Lj Gibbs really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Das Labor logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
