PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buddi Zoom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yo-Landi Vi$$er (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zoom kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Thunder Struck - ACDC. Vi$$er is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter The Ninja. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Buddi Zoom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yo-Landi Vi$$er!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zoom throws a sloppy head kick

and Vi$$er counters with a shoot takedown. Zoom fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Vi$$er wants to control from the top but Zoom keeps moving.
Vi$$er preventing the sweep.
We've been hearing good reports from Zoom's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Yo-Landi Vi$$er.
Zoom throws a head kick that misses

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vi$$er postures up in Zoom's guard and throws a big left but Zoom blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vi$$er trying to control but Zoom is working from the bottom.
Zoom wants to sweep here but Vi$$er controlling him for the moment.
Vi$$er landing some decent shots from guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zoom is on top in guard.

Vi$$er looking for a guillotine here but Zoom defends easily.

Vi$$er had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zoom defends it easily.
Our spies down at at Blunt Force Training inform us that Vi$$er has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Vi$$er has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Vi$$er has his foot on Zoom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zoom works his way back into a safe position though.

Zoom drops back looking for a leg! Vi$$er is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vi$$er manages to kick Zoom off! Zoom jumps back into Vi$$er's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zoom distracts Vi$$er with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Zoom drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zoom jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Zoom keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vi$$er's head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vi$$er is trying to control the position but Zoom postures up.
Zoom is looking to work some ground and pound but Vi$$er has wrist control.
Zoom is pushing down on Vi$$er's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vi$$er is fighting to maintain full guard but Zoom has managed to sneak the leg through.
Vi$$er moves into full guard.

Vi$$er is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Zoom is aware though and is defending well.
Zoom has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Vi$$er bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zoom's guard.
Vi$$er lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Zoom looking for a sweep. Not yet Zoom, not yet.

Zoom is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Vi$$er's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Vi$$er thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zoom's head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Vi$$er scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Zoom tries to get to full guard but Vi$$er has control of the leg.
Vi$$er seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Vi$$er not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Vi$$er prevents Zoom from improving his position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vi$$er working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Zoom slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Vi$$er postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Zoom has momentary wrist control but Vi$$er slips an elbow through the middle.

Vi$$er postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Zoom working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vi$$er doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vi$$er manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yo-Landi Vi$$er dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Zoom fails with an attempt to clinch.
Vi$$er blocks a head kick by Zoom.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Vi$$er lands an elbow inside that Zoom shrugs off.
Vi$$er pushes Zoom back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Vi$$er.
Vi$$er scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Zoom tries a knee to the head but Vi$$er blocks it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Zoom.
Vi$$er throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Zooms head.
Zoom is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Vi$$er is defending well for now.

Oh Zoom is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Vi$$er lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Zoom to his knees! Vi$$er keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yo-Landi Vi$$er!
Yo-Landi Vi$$er spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
