Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Beast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Denisovitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Denisovitch's choice of entrance music: Katyusha. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Beast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ivan Denisovitch!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beast closes the distance and clinches up with Denisovitch, looking for a takedown. Beast pushes Denisovitch against the cage but Denisovitch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Beast counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Beast.
Beast trying to control but Denisovitch is working from the bottom.
Beast loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Denisovitch utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Beast scoring with some ground and pound.
Beast throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Denisovitch works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Beast postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Denisovitch has Beast pulled in close to control his posture.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Beast lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Beast trying to control but Denisovitch is working from the bottom.

Beast looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Beast trying to control the position from guard on top but Denisovitch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Beast throws a big right hand that misses.
Beast is looking to work some ground and pound but Denisovitch has wrist control.

Beast has gone for a leg lock! Denisovitch slips out almost immediately though and dives into Beast's guard.

Beast wants to sweep but no luck.
Denisovitch trying to control but Beast is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Denisovitch cracks the inside of Beast's front leg.
Beast looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Beast closes this distance looking for a takedown but Denisovitch circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Beast. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beast closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Denisovitch wants to get back to full guard.
Beast landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Beast thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beast blocks the strikes from Denisovitch.

Beast is trying to work for a kimura but Denisovitch is defending well.
Beast slips a nice elbow through Denisovitch's hands, connecting with Denisovitch's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Denisovitch is looking to control Beast's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Denisovitch avoid being mounted?
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Denisovitch can do anything to dispel that myth.

Beast in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Denisovitch tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Beast!
