Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Javier Esteban!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esteban tries to clinch but King moves away
and King counters with a three punch combo that has Esteban backing up. Esteban nods at King to acknowledge the strikes.
King misses with a few strikes there.
Esteban thuds a left hand into King's body.
Javier Esteban seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King fails to land with a series of punches.
Esteban checks the leg kick nicely there.
Esteban lands with a right hand.
Esteban lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
Esteban throws a leg kick but King sees it coming and checks it nicely.
King swinging wildly here.
King blocks a jab.
Esteban darts in trying to clinch
and King holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Esteban wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Esteban scores with a hook to the body.
King's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Esteban tries to close the distance and clinch but King swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King misses with a two punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Esteban just misses with a punch to the body.
Esteban swinging wildly here.
King misses with a few strikes there.
Esteban dodges the punch combination from King.
Esteban wants to clinch
and King counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Esteban tries to clinch up.
Esteban is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by King.
Esteban throws a series of punches but King moves out of range.
Esteban loads up on a big right hand but King slips the punch.
King circles away from the clinch attempt
and King counters with a left and a right that hurts Esteban! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! King jumps into full mount!
Esteban is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Esteban is trying to stand up.
Esteban is still in real trouble! Can King finish him?
Esteban seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
King controlling the position easily from mount.
King has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Esteban is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
King controlling the pace for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
You get the feeling that Esteban really doesn't like being in this position too much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David King dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
King lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
King throws a right hand that Esteban ducks under and follows up with a left that Esteban also avoids with ease.
Esteban misses with a body shot.
Esteban wants to clinch.
King avoids the body shot from Esteban.
King misses with a jab, cross combination.
Esteban tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and King comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Esteban stumbles back against the ropes, looking to regain his senses but King is on him like rabid pit bull! Esteban slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David King!
David King bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
