The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dempsey tries to keep at a distance but John has taken the fight into the clinch.
Dempsey is looking for a takedown.
John tries to pull guard but Dempsey forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
John is looking to break free of the clinch but Dempsey has double underhooks.
Dempsey goes for a takedown in the clinch but John prevents it.
John tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dempsey smiles and moves away.
Dempsey throws a wild body kick that John sees coming a mile off.
Dempsey takes a kick to the side of the head.

It looks like Jack Dempsey has been cut.
John tries to close the distance and clinch but Dempsey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dempsey dives in and grabs John's left leg, looking for a takedown. John pushes down on Dempsey's head and hops out.
Mr Young John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Dempsey.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dempsey drives through and clinches with John against the cage.
John has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dempsey is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Dempsey pulls guard effortlessly.

Dempsey throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! John escapes and throws Dempsey's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Dempsey is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dempsey is trying to work for a sweep but John has mounted him!

Dempsey is squirming around, avoiding John's attempts to control the action.

Dempsey bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

John is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dempsey defends well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

John prevents Dempsey from improving his position.
John seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dempsey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dempsey is pressing down on John's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
John wants to stand but Dempsey has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dempsey is adopting a defensive guard.
Dempsey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Dempsey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
