Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Byrne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, David Byrne!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Byrne.
Byrne throws a leg kick which misses Diaz's front leg but catches the back leg as Diaz tries to avoid it.
Byrne gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Diaz.
Byrne scoring well with a low kick there.
Byrne ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

A clash of legs there as Diaz blocks the low kick.
Diaz looks to score with a jab to the body but Byrne is just out of range.
Diaz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Byrne at a distance.
David Byrne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Diaz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Byrne's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Diaz is fighting to break Byrne's control of his arms but Byrne is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Byrne is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Byrne circles away and we're back to standing.

Byrne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Byrne uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Diaz.
Diaz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Diaz lands a really nice looking cross but Byrne seems unphased.
No joy there for Byrne, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Diaz is looking to score with low kicks.
Byrne ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away.
Diaz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Diaz. Byrne does a little dance to reset his feet.
Byrne fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Diaz.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Diaz will probably get the nod.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Byrne defends well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matt Diaz.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
