Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Knife!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darius Ellis!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knife connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ellis's hands.
Knife takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jack Knife seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellis doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Knife digs a good body shot into Ellis's ribs.
A chopping leg kick lands by Knife.
Knife bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Ellis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ellis swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Knife to counter with a crisp jab.
Ellis has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ellis there as he acknowledges the shot.
Knife feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Elliss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A left lands for Knife.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ellis takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Knife lands with an overhand left.
Ellis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ellis is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Knife scores with a shot to the body.
Ellis tries to clinch but Knife moves away
and Knife counters with a nice kick to the body.
Knife fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ellis.
Knife feints and then cracks Ellis's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ellis down.
Ellis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ellis on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ellis's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Knife connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ellis scrambles back to his feet.
Ellis walks into a jab.
Knife scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Knife scores with a sloppy right hand. Ellis should have avoided that one.
Ellis is still on wobbly legs! Can Knife finish him?
Knife walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Ellis drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Knife swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Ellis's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Knife!
Jack Knife is the new lightweight champion!
Darius Ellis was interviewed post fight and said 'He is an excellent fighter and had a good gameplan. Nothing else to do now but get back in the gym'.
