PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masaru Hideki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hideki comes to the cage accompanied by I've Just Seen a Face. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 11 - 2, fighting out of London, Masaru Hideki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hideki tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hunter swivels and escapes.
Hideki misses with an uppercut. Hunter saw that one coming.
A swing and a miss from Hideki.
Hunter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hideki moves away.
Hunter moves away from the strike by Hideki.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hunter.
Hideki on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

and Hunter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hideki lands with a nice body kick.
Hideki keeps Hunter at a distance using the push kick.
Hideki moves out of range as Hunter strikes.
Hunter swats away the attempt to clinch by Hideki.

Hideki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hideki darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Hideki on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hunter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hideki moves away.
Hideki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hunter parries the strikes from Hideki easily there. Hideki is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hunter to escape.

Hunter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hideki has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hideki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hideki just misses with a punch to the body.
Hunter thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hideki tried to score with a low kick but Hunter checks it.
Hunter throws a chopping leg kick but Hideki manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Hideki connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Hunter is pressing down on Hideki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hideki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hunter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hideki has managed to get both his arms back between Hunter's legs - danger averted.

Hideki throws a hook but Hunter blocks it.
Hideki takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Hunter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Hideki uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hunter.

The fighters circle momentarily. Hideki darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hunter lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hideki takes a step back to recover.
Hunter looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hideki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hideki connects with a couple of short punches.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hideki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hunter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hideki!

Hideki takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Hunter throws some wild stikes that Hideki manages to avoid easily.

Hideki is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Jay Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hunter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
