PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luke Gardner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gusandall Ingunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ingunn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. BKJN vs Partyraiser kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Luke Gardner had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Luke Gardner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gusandall Ingunn!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ingunn closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Gardner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ingunn tries to clinch there but Gardner circles away.
Ingunn fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ingunn doesn't manage to clinch there - Gardner circles away.

Ingunn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gardner wants to stand but Ingunn is controlling the position.
Gardner trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Ingunn is looking to pass into half guard but Gardner pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gardner is in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Luke Gardner.
Ingunn is looking to clinch.
Gardner connects with a crisp jab.
Gardner throws a hook to the side of Ingunn's head but Ingunn sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Ingunn scores with a takedown into Gardner's guard.
Ingunn trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Gardner manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Ingunn pulls Gardner in to control the position.
Gardner is stalling in the full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gardner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Luke Gardner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ingunn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gardner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gardner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ingunn.
Gardner tries a head kick but it misses.
Ingunn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gardner as he avoids it easily.
Ingunn lands the left hand.
Gardner connects with the punch.
Ingunn loads up on a big right hand but Gardner slips the punch.

Ingunn forces Gardner back against the cage and clinches.
Gardner is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Gardner manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Luke Gardner will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ingunn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Gardner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ingunn's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Ingunn has his hands on Gardner's head, controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Luke Gardner just wasn't active enough.
Gardner misses with a wild body shot.

Ingunn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gardner's waist but Gardner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ingunn off to one side.
Ingunn shoots in for a takedown but Gardner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Luke Gardner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gusandall Ingunn.
Ingunn tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gardner ducks under a wild hook from Ingunn.
Gardner is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ingunn.

Gardner throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ingunn shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gardner napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Ingunn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ingunn wants to control but Gardner is keeping him busy.

Ingunn tries to score with some ground and pound. Gardner controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Gardner regains half guard, as Ingunn was trying to land strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ingunn is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Gardner has Ingunn pulled in close to control his posture.
Ingunn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ingunn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gardner is keeping the position for now.
Gardner looking for a sweep. Not yet Gardner, not yet.

Ingunn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gardner is aware though and is defending well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gusandall Ingunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ingunn throws a sloppy strike and Gardner uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Gardner has ended up in Ingunn's guard.

and Gardner counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ingunn is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Ingunn is rocked!
Gardner feints a jab and as Ingunn dips his head, Gardner unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Ingunn right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Ingunn falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Gardner smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Luke Gardner!
