PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Kruger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Summerfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kruger comes into the arena with Tnt blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Kruger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Summerfield!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summerfield stuffs the takedown.
Summerfield throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Summerfield throws a leg kick but Kruger checks it.
A left lands for Kruger.
Kruger works Summerfield's body with a nice hook.
Kruger lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kruger closes the distance and clinches up with Summerfield, looking for a takedown. Kruger pushes Summerfield against the cage but Summerfield circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Summerfield throws a wild body kick that Kruger sees coming a mile off.
Nice jab there from Kruger.
Kruger comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Summerfield throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kruger stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Summerfield checks the leg kick nicely there.
Summerfield does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kruger.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Summerfield misses with the body kick
and Kruger counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kruger throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kruger fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Summerfield looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

so Kruger counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Summerfield not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kruger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kruger wants to pass the guard but Summerfield is keeping the position.
Kruger slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kruger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kruger is trying to get an arm triangle but Summerfield is defending well.

Kruger in side control, throwing shots but Summerfield defends.
Kruger tries to move to mount but Summerfield blocks the move with his legs.
Summerfield managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kruger.
Kruger scores with a couple of short elbows.
Kruger throws an elbow but Summerfield slips to the side and avoids it well.
Kruger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Summerfield keeps working.
Kruger tries to score with some ground and pound. Summerfield controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kruger cracks Summerfield with an elbow. That is naaassty.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kruger lands some shots froms side control.
Kruger lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Summerfield down.
Kruger postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Summerfield is not content to let Kruger control the position.
Kruger lands a nice forearm strike.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Summerfield parries the strikes from Kruger easily there. Kruger is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Summerfield to escape.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Kruger dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A jab lands there for Kruger.
Summerfield takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kruger throws a nice outside leg kick.
Summerfield motions for Kruger to come forward. Summerfield throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kruger drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kruger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kruger in side control, throwing shots but Summerfield defends.
Summerfield takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kruger wants to control but Summerfield is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Summerfield taking punishment in the form of punches.
Summerfield parries the strikes from Kruger easily there. Kruger is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Summerfield to escape.

Kruger working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Kruger tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Summerfield really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kruger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kruger wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Summerfield, who protects the arm well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Summerfield looks to move to half guard but instead Kruger has passed into mount! Damn!
Kruger with shots to the head and body - Summerfield looks very uncomfortable down there.
Kruger cracks Summerfield with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


Summerfield is rocked!


It looks like Bob Summerfield has been cut.
A big strike lands for Kruger! That's really hurt Summerfield and he's turned his back - Kruger keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Kruger jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Kruger!
A relieved looking John Kruger thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
