PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gearo Husamanto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Husamanto is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: paradise. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jesse James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gearo Husamanto!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Husamanto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Husamanto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Husamanto walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Husamanto circles away quickly and effectively.
A punch combination from James misses.
Left hook, right uppercut from James.


It looks like Gearo Husamanto has been cut.
James misses the shot to the body.
James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Husamanto shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Husamanto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
James misses with a jab, cross combination.

Husamanto gets a double leg takedown into James's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Husamanto wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Husamanto scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

James has his feet on Husamanto's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Husamanto fails with a takedown attempt.
Jesse James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gearo Husamanto.

James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Husamanto moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Husamanto shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. James manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Husamanto is looking to work some ground and pound but James has wrist control.
Husamanto throws an elbow that misses. James uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Husamanto's guard. Nice move by James!
James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
James wants to stand and escape but instead Husamanto has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Husamanto decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and James counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James is looking to stand up but Husamanto isn't so interested in that idea.

James is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
James throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Husamanto.

No luck for Husamanto with that takedown attempt.
James goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Husamanto has time to react.
James connects with a superb combination that knocks Husamanto out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles James before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Husamanto!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jesse James!
After winning the bout, Jesse James thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
