PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sanex Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis comes into the arena with Snoop DoGG blaring out of the sound system. David has chosen The Who - Baba O'Riley as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Sanex Lewis could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Craig David's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Sanex Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Craig David!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice straight punches there by David. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of David.
David throws a head kick but Lewis moves out of range.
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
David throws a hook but Lewis blocks it.
David lands with a thumping leg kick.
David throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
David scores with a one two! Lewis had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
An inside leg kick from David misses.
David thuds his right hand into Lewis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Lewis blocks a head kick by David.
David misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lewis shoots for a takedown but David saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
David defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lewis.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sanex Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
David throws a low kick but Lewis avoids it.
David lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Lewis avoids the body shot from David.
Lewis throws a nice looking combination but David bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says David as he avoids it easily.
David thumps Lewis with a low kick.

Lewis shoots in and drives through. David sprawls well.
Lewis is breathing heavily.
David dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lewis. That did some damage!
Lewis avoids the head kick by David.
That kick from David tenderised Lewis's leg. Lewis is trying to keep his angry face on.
Lewis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
David is looking to slow Lewis down with leg kicks.
This has been an exciting period of action!

David fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lewis, pushing him back against the cage.

David turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lewis is working to avoid the ground and pound but David connects with a decent elbow.
David is working Lewis over with some ground and pound from side control.
David really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lewis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
David wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lewis keeps working.

David tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Lewis is trying to improve his position.
Lewis is working hard here to advance position.
David trying to control the action but Lewis is working from the bottom.

Lewis is looking to regain half guard here but David keeps moving and retains side control.
Lewis sneaks back into half guard.
David wants to control but Lewis is keeping him busy.
Ground and pound from David.

David thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lewis wants to control but David is keeping busy.
Lewis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lewis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of David's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take David's back!

David showing good submission defense here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lewis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. David is defending well though. Lewis let's go of the attempt for now.
Lewis is trying to stick to David's back but David is turning into Lewis. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lewis's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by David.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
David trying to control but Lewis is working from the bottom.
David passes easily into side control. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig David dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Lewis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lewis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and David dives on top into guard.

Lewis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

David stops Lewis from standing up.
David missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
David lands a couple of elbows.
David stands up over Lewis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

David looking to improve position, pressing down on Lewis's thigh with his hand. Lewis seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is David paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! David's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Lewis picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Sanex Lewis!
Sanex Lewis decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
