Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johannes Theodorus Owin Boon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Waby!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Boon as Waby shoots in.
Boon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Waby.

Boon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Waby's half guard.
Waby wants to control but Boon is keeping busy.
Waby keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Boon decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Waby will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Johannes Theodorus Owin Boon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Waby.
Boon throws a head kick but Waby moves out of range.

Boon has managed to clinch.

Boon gets underhooks to prevent Waby's takedown attempt.
Waby can't get the takedown.

Boon lands a takedown into guard.
Boon stopping the sweep attempt from Waby.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waby trying to control the position here.
Boon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Waby on the ground.
Boon tries to free his leg and advance position but Waby is retaining full guard.
Waby pulls Boon in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boon stands up over Waby, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Waby is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Waby pulls Boon in close to prevent any damage.
Boon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Scott Waby has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Boon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Waby was covering up waiting for the punch and Boon finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Waby not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Waby can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Boon controls the pace.
Waby wants to sweep but no luck.
Waby controlling the position.
Boon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johannes Theodorus Owin Boon wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Boon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Waby.

Boon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Boon lands in his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Waby is pulling down on Boon's head. It's preventing any offense from Boon, at least for the moment.
Boon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Let's hope that Waby has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Waby looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boon wants to control from the top but Waby keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Johannes Theodorus Owin Boon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Boon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Waby manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Waby shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boon as he jumps to the side.

Boon drives through and clinches with Waby against the cage.
Boon tries to stall but Waby uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Boon pulls Waby into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Waby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Waby postures up.

Waby drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Waby jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Boon can't keep his opponent in guard - Waby advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Waby slows the pace down in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Waby is looking for a kimura but Boon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Waby to get the leverage.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Boon wants to control but Waby is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Waby trying to pass the guard but Boon defending well.
Boon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Waby.

Waby maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Boon could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Waby has cracked it and Boon is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Waby!
