The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nickoson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vikernes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Horrible takedown by Vikernes or perhaps it was just good defense by Nickoson which made him look bad.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vikernes can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Vikernes tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Varg Vikernes has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Vikernes moves forwards but Nickoson connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Nickoson stalks Vikernes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vikernes's face. Vikernes staggers backwards, shaken.

Nickoson leaves Vikernes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Vikernes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nickoson avoids it really well and circles away.

Nickoson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vikernes circles away quickly and effectively.

Let's hope that Vikernes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vikernes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nickoson's waist but Nickoson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vikernes off to one side.

Vikernes gets a clinch.

Vikernes has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Nickoson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Vikernes really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Nickoson.

Vikernes is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Nickoson with him. Nickoson is trying to defend but Vikernes has an arm under the chin now! Nickoson grimaces and is forced to tap out!
