Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Drago!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Rod The Iceberg has been cut.
The Iceberg fails to land the takedown.

Drago looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The Iceberg has hold of Drago's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Drago manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The Iceberg wants to clinch but Drago slips to the side

and Drago counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The Iceberg's guard now.
The Iceberg wants to get back to his feet but Drago is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Drago can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The Iceberg wants to control the pace but Drago is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nikolai Drago will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Drago fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. The Iceberg looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A combination from Drago does no damage.
The Iceberg is looking to clinch.
The Iceberg walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Drago counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Drago.

Drago breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Drago fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches The Iceberg on the side of the head.
The Iceberg tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Drago manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Good shot there by Drago.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Drago looking to score a takedown here. The Iceberg is defending well but Drago drives through and ends up in The Iceberg's guard.

The Iceberg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Drago can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Drago really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Iceberg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The Iceberg bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Drago's guard.

The Iceberg is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Drago looking for a sweep. Not yet Drago, not yet.
The Iceberg wants to control from the top but Drago keeps moving.
Rod The Iceberg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Drago looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The Iceberg pushes down on Drago's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Drago wants to improve his position but The Iceberg is controlling well.

Drago is refusing to be controlled, as The Iceberg sits in half guard.
Drago wants to get back to full guard.
The Iceberg works his foot free and advances to mount.
Drago can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Drago wants to control but The Iceberg is having none of it.

Drago tries to improve his position but The Iceberg has taken his back! The Iceberg has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Drago tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! The Iceberg pushes Drago away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rod The Iceberg!
Rod The Iceberg gave a mention to Mango Nutrition in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
