Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pete Gordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fernando Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez circles away from the clinch attempt
and Martinez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Martinez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Martinez trying to control from half guard but Gordon is working away.
Martinez controlling the action here.

Martinez is looking for a kimura but Gordon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Martinez to get the leverage.
Gordon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Martinez not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gordon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Martinez wants to take a breather but Gordon is having none of it.

Martinez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Martinez wants to control but Gordon is keeping him busy.
Gordon wants to improve his position but Martinez is controlling well.

Martinez wants to work for an arm triangle but Gordon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martinez throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Gordon to regain full guard.
Martinez trying to control but Gordon is working from the bottom.
Gordon has his hands on Martinez's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martinez trying to control the position from guard on top but Gordon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Martinez works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martinez wants to pass to mount but Gordon is defending the position.
Martinez prevents Gordon from standing back up.
Martinez not doing much here.
Martinez is looking to take a break and control but Gordon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fernando Martinez wasn't active enough on the ground.

Gordon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Martinez stalling the fight.

Gordon blocks an elbow strike from Martinez.
Gordon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Martinez goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Martinez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gordon smiles and moves away.
Martinez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Martinez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gordon counters with a left and a right that stings Martinez.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gordon scores with a takedown into Martinez's guard.

Martinez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gordon rolls with it to try and escape but Martinez cranks on the arm and Gordon is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
