Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack The Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Cao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rhys Cao has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack The Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rhys Cao!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Ripper gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The Ripper throws a hook but Cao blocks it.
The Ripper misses with an uppercut
and Cao counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The Ripper misses with a double jab
and Cao cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The Ripper throws a poor cross that misses
and Cao counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Cao has taken the fight to the clinch.
The Ripper goes for a takedown attempt but Cao pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The Ripper on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Cao displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as The Ripper throws out the jab.

and Cao cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cao cracks The Ripper with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Cao dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The Ripper throws a poor cross that misses
and Cao counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The Ripper misses with a takedown attempt
and Cao counters with a straight right hand.
Cao defending well as The Ripper loads up on a big left hand.

Cao will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The Ripper swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cao counters with a straight right hand.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The Ripper throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cao counters with a series of strikes. The Ripper will be more careful next time no doubt.
Cao is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! The Ripper had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

and Cao counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The Ripper shoots in for a double leg but Cao sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Cao drops The Ripper with a beautiful combination! The Ripper stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Cao is looking for the KO!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Cao counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for The Ripper!
Oh The Ripper is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The Ripper is looking for a sweep.
The Ripper is working hard here to advance position.
The Ripper seems to have got his legs back now.
The Ripper is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The Ripper is breathing heavily.
Cao is pressing down on The Ripper's thigh, looking to free his foot. The Ripper is holding on for now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The Ripper wants to control but Cao is having none of it.

Rhys Cao seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Cao dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The Ripper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cao sprawls well. Cao wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. The Ripper gets slowly back to his feet.
Jack The Ripper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cao lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

The Ripper shoots in but Cao avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Cao counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The Ripper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cao circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cao has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Oooooh!!! Cao has knocked The Ripper down with a huge combo! Cao steps away and waves a wobbly The Ripper back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The Ripper throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Cao keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The Ripper has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from The Ripper there as he acknowledges the shot.
No joy there for Cao, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rhys Cao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Cao moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

The Ripper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cao as he jumps to the side.
Cao stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Cao counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cao connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed The Ripper momentarily.
Cao connects with a body shot that sends The Ripper's belly button to the back.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cao slips under a jab from The Ripper.
The Ripper looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
The Ripper doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The Ripper is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cao.
The Ripper misses with a looping left.

The Ripper shoots in looking for a takedown but Cao manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Ripper's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

No luck with that takedown attempt from The Ripper.

The Ripper throws out a loose jab but Cao uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cao lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Horrible takedown by The Ripper or perhaps it was just good defense by Cao which made him look bad.
The Ripper throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Cao holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

A nice right hand lands inside from Cao.
Cao gets through The Ripper's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Cao breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cao digs a good hook to The Ripper's body.
Nice shot by Cao.
The Ripper walks straight into a right hand from Cao - that's dropped him! Cao jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save The Ripper from any more punishment! The Ripper complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
