PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Sisphar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Smalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smalls is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lamb of God - Omerta. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tony Smalls was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Sisphar!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Smalls!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smalls closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sisphar on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Sisphar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smalls.
Smalls thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smalls connects with a nice short shot to Sisphar's temple.
Smalls works his way into full mount!
Smalls lands a big shot there that rocks Sisphar but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sisphar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smalls on the ground.
Smalls throwing strikes here but Sisphar is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Smalls has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sisphar's face.
Smalls sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Smalls fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Sisphar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sisphar tries to get out of the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smalls is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sisphar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Sisphar is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Smalls putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Smalls postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sisphar looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smalls working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Sisphar slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.

Smalls looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sisphar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Smalls throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Smalls thows a huge punch but Sisphar dodges it nicely.
Smalls has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sisphar looks like he's trying to stand up.
Smalls works his way into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Smalls dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Sisphar tries to clinch but Smalls is having none of it.
Jimmy Sisphar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sisphar lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Tony Smalls has been cut.
Smalls fails with the takedown.
Sisphar plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sisphar lands a big head kick that sends Smalls tumbling to the mat! Sisphar takes a step backwards and waves Smalls back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Smalls is rocked!
Whack! Sisphar lands a heavy head kick that drops Smalls. The ref tackles Sisphar to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Smalls was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Jimmy Sisphar!
Jimmy Sisphar is the new light heavyweight champion!
