Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Kiptanui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Protacio Jawo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiptanui comes to the cage accompanied by Teflon Brothers - Hoodilammas feat. Juju . This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Gabriel Kiptanui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Protacio Jawo!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiptanui scores with a head kick. Jawo tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jawo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kiptanui paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The fighters circling - Jawo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jawo throws a shot to the body.

Jawo clinches up against the cage.
Kiptanui jumps guard but Jawo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Jawo misses with a body punch.
Jawo pushes off an throws an elbow but Kiptanui leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Jawo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Kiptanui gets control of Jawo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kiptanui will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jawo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kiptanui's guard.
Kiptanui is staying active underneath Jawo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jawo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Jawo wants to work for an arm triangle but Kiptanui is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jawo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jawo throws a strike but Kiptanui rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kiptanui content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Protacio Jawo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kiptanui has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jawo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Jawo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Jawo clobbers Kiptanui with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kiptanui shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jawo as he jumps to the side.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kiptanui escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jawo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jawo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Gabriel Kiptanui has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kiptanui pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jawo blocks a punch to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gabriel Kiptanui.
Well Jawo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
