PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Asly Hamps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Tatlock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Asly Hamps!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kyle Tatlock!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hamps drives through and clinches with Tatlock against the cage.

Hamps has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tatlock uses from the top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tatlock wants to stand and escape but instead Hamps has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hamps postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tatlock looking for a sweep. Not yet Tatlock, not yet.
Tatlock wants to hit a switch here but Hamps passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Tatlock there!
Hamps lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamps seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tatlock for as long as he can get away with.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hamps tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tatlock knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hamps connects with a nice short shot to Tatlock's temple.

Hamps is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hamps shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Hamps is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hamps working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tatlock's head.
Hamps has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tatlock is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hamps dives into side control.
Hamps is looking to take a break and control but Tatlock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tatlock tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Hamps is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hamps takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Tatlock is bucking up trying to escape but Hamps cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hamps fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hamps takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Hamps is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tatlock sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hamps shoots in and drives through. Tatlock sprawls well.

Hamps has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Asly Hamps wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Tatlock rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hamps moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hamps shoots in and bounces Tatlock off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hamps stands up over Tatlock, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hamps stands up and waves to Tatlock to follow him.
Horrible takedown by Hamps or perhaps it was just good defense by Tatlock which made him look bad.

Hamps is pulling down on Tatlock's head. It's preventing any offense from Tatlock, at least for the moment.

Tatlock has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hamps is proving hard to escape from.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Tatlock misses with a head shot. Hamps uses the momentum to regain guard.
Tatlock must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hamps wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tatlock wants to get up but he can't break Hamps's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Asly Hamps will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hamps fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Hamps jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tatlock manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Asly Hamps overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hamps lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Tatlock down.

Tatlock takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Tatlock takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hamps lands a decent elbow from side control.
Hamps remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Tatlock is looking to regain half guard here but Hamps keeps moving and retains side control.
Asly Hamps is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Tatlock is trying to escape the position but Hamps is controlling the position.
Hamps is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tatlock can do to turn this around?
Kyle Tatlock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hamps, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
