The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Pacioretty.
Patterson walks into a stiff left hand from Pacioretty.

Patterson feints and as Pacioretty raises his hands in defense, Patterson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Pacioretty has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Patterson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Patterson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pacioretty wants to sweep here but Patterson controlling him for the moment.

Patterson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pacioretty seems keen to control Patterson's posture.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Patterson drops back looking for a leg! Pacioretty is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pacioretty manages to kick Patterson off! Patterson jumps back into Pacioretty's guard.

Patterson has gone for a leg lock! Pacioretty slips out almost immediately though and dives into Patterson's guard.

Pacioretty got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patterson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pacioretty has managed to get both his arms back between Patterson's legs - danger averted.

Patterson pushes a forearm under Pacioretty's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Pacioretty is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
