PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sten Jakobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eduardo Silva told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Jakobson as Silva shoots in.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jakobson as he jumps to the side.

Jakobson has closed the distance and engaged Silva in a clinch.
Silva jumps guard but Jakobson stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sten Jakobson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eduardo Silva.

Jakobson has Silva pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jakobson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Silva tumbling to the mat - Jakobson dives into Silva's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jakobson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Silva has his foot on Jakobson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jakobson works his way back into a safe position though.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jakobson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Silva Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jakobson's back instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jakobson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jakobson for a finish.

Silva has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Jakobson! Can he survive? No! He's out! Silva gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
