PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Bruce Do has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bruce Do seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Donnie Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jackson enables Do to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jackson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Do with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jackson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Do.
Jackson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Do!

Jackson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Jackson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jackson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Do because Jackson loaded up on that one.

Jackson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Do is on top in guard.
Do missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Do is in close to Jackson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jackson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Do wanted to stand there but Jackson had control of the position.

Do got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Do has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.
Do trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jackson is looking to sweep but instead, Do has passed into half guard.
Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Do not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Do takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Do lands strikes from half guard.
Do thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jackson controlling the position for now.
Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Do's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Do's back!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jackson is looking for a choke. Do gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Do manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Do trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Do's guard.
Jackson trying to move into half guard but instead Do has managed to sweep!
Jackson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Do!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jackson has hold of Do's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Do manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Jackson looks winded!
Do is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jackson wants to take his opponent's back but instead Do manages to regain half guard.
Do holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Do wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Jackson is trying to control. Do wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Do wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Do is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Jackson trying to work for an americana but Do has managed to regain full guard.
Do keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bruce Do will probably get the nod.
That's time! Do's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Do misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Do moves away.
Do tries for a takedown but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Do scores with the left hand. Jackson knows he should have avoided that one.
Jackson checks a leg kick nicely.
A jab from Do finds it's way through Jackson's defenses.
Jackson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Do tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jackson is able to avoid easily.

Do has managed to clinch.
Jackson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Do backwards.

Jackson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Jackson dodges an elbow strike from Do.
Do prevents a body shot from Jackson.
Jackson tries a body shot but Do blocks it.
A head punch on the inside from Jackson fails to land.

Do lands a takedown into guard.
Jackson trying to control the position here.
Jackson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Do is one step ahead there.
Do trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Do decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!
Jackson throws out a loose jab but Do uses good head movement to avoid it.
Do throws a right hand that misses
and Jackson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Jackson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson fails with the takedown.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Do tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jackson is able to avoid easily.
Horrible takedown by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Do which made him look bad.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Jackson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Do lands a lovely overhand right.

Do gets a clinch.
Do pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Jackson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Do lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jackson backwards.

Do misses with a knee strike.

Do is trying to trip Jackson. He has hold of a leg but Jackson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Do persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Do throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jackson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Do trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Do postures up in Jackson's guard and throws a big left but Jackson blocks it.

Jackson throws a strike but Do rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Do missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Do postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Do wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Do won't allow Jackson to sweep him here.

Do postures up.
Do working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Do has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.
Jackson slips nicely into half guard.
Jackson is pressing down on Do's thigh, looking to free his foot. Do is holding on for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Do has his hands clasped together around Jackson's back. He's all about the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Do dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Do throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Do looks to land a combination. Jackson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Jackson throws a hook but Do avoids it easily.

Do closes the distance and clinches.
Do lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jackson or not.
Jackson misses with a short punch on the inside.
Do struggles to land a body shot inside as Jackson controls his hands.
Jackson gets underhooks to prevent Do's takedown attempt.
Do connects with a knee to the head.
Do prevents a body shot from Jackson.
Do digs a right hand underneath Jackson's ribcage. Jackson let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Do tries to land knees in the clinch but Jackson avoids the damage to the body.
Do trying to land knees to the body.
Do comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Do misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jackson.
Jackson misses with a short punch on the inside.

Do connects with a knee to the head.
Do blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A hook to the body from Jackson.
Jackson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A shot in the inside from Do.
Do lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Do lands with a light punch inside.
Jackson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Do walks away with a smile on his face. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Do lands a body shot.

Do gets a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Do blocks an uppercut.
Jackson is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jackson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Do landing knees to the head.
Donnie Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jackson jumps guard but Do turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Bruce Do has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donnie Jackson.
Jackson takes a knee right on the jaw!
Do lands a nice uppercut.


Jackson is rocked!
Do connects with a knee to the head.
Jackson is still on wobbly legs! Can Do finish him?
Do is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
A body shot lands from Do.
Do lands an uppercut.

Do gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Jackson is looking to get back to full guard here but Do has managed to pass to side control instead.
Jackson tries to improve position but can't.
Jackson seems to have recovered his senses.
Do is chipping away with strikes.
Do is putting a hurting on Jackson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Jackson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Do wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Do cracks Jackson with a big right hand but Jackson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson can't do much from the bottom here.

Do decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Do feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jackson's calf.
A bone on bone clash there as Jackson blocks the leg kick.
Do ducks under a wild hook from Jackson.
Do connects with an inside leg kick.
Bruce Do is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Do lands with a thumping leg kick.
Jackson moves away from the strike by Do.
Do moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Do scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson moves out of range of the body kick from Do.
Do scores with a hook.
A punch combination from Jackson misses.
A solid leg kick lands there for Do.
Jackson takes one to the side of the head.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.

Do gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jackson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Do tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jackson's elbow.
Bruce Do has scored more points in the clinch so far.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Do lands a takedown into guard.
Do lands a couple of elbows.

Do stands up from guard. Let's bang!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruce Do showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Do has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
