Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lucas walks into a jab.
Diaz throws a good cross that connects.
Lucas throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease.
Lucas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Diaz tests Lucas's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Diaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Diaz feints a jab promting Lucas to slip. Diaz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lucas slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Diaz moves away from the strike by Lucas.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diaz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lucas doesn't seem bothered though.

Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lucas paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lucas's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Diaz connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lucas scrambles back to his feet.

Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lucas needs to keep his hands up - Diaz had a free shot at his head there.
Lucas avoids a punch combination nicely.
Diaz cracks Lucas with a right hand to the side of the head.
Diaz is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lucas had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Lucas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lucas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Diaz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lucas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Diaz might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Diaz tries to bum rush Lucas with a series of wild strikes but Lucas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Lucas looking to score a takedown here. Diaz is defending well but Lucas drives through and ends up in Diaz's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Lucas has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Diaz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lucas is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Diaz pulls down on the head and he's put Lucas to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nick Diaz!
Nick Diaz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
