Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clay Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas scores with a decent looking hook.


It looks like Russell Jacobs has been cut.
Jacobs defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Thomas.

Jacobs feints and as Thomas raises his hands in defense, Jacobs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Thomas has momentary wrist control but Jacobs slips an elbow through the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jacobs looks up at the clock and then as Thomas takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jacobs smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Thomas takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That kick from Jacobs tenderised Thomas's leg. Thomas is trying to keep his angry face on.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jacobs here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Clay Thomas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Thomas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jacobs.
Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jacobs paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Thomas drives through and clinches with Jacobs against the cage.
Thomas lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Thomas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A combination from Thomas does no damage.
Jacobs stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jacobs wants it to stay on the feet.
Jacobs fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Thomas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jacobs's waist but Jacobs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thomas off to one side.
Clay Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jacobs circles away quickly and effectively.
Thomas misses with the combination.
No joy there for Thomas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jacobs connects with a single shot there.
Thomas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Thomas sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Thomas is breathing heavily.
Jacobs is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Jacobs shoots for a takedown but Thomas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Russell Jacobs is winning the standup battle so far.
Jacobs throws a nice inside leg kick.
Jacobs bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Thomas's head backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A kick lands to the mid section there for Jacobs.
Jacobs lets loose with a powerful body kick. Thomas will feel that in the morning.

Jacobs's corner calls for a 1-2. Jacobs obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Thomas.
Thomas misses with a double jab.
Jacobs connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Jacobs connects with a solid leg kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Jacobs.
Jacobs bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Thomas's head.
Jacobs dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Thomas. That did some damage!
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Jacobs shows good takedown defense.
Russell Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clay Thomas.

Jacobs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jacobs cracks Thomas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jacobs ducks under a wild hook from Thomas.
Jacobs scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Thomas walks into a stiff left hand from Jacobs.
Jacobs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jacobs scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Thomas doesn't seem bothered though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jacobs circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Thomas drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Jacobs follows Thomas to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Russell Jacobs!
