PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronny Berntsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saul Tigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berntsen comes to the ring accompanied by Crazy Lixx - Riot Avenue. Saul Tigh told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berntsen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tigh as he jumps to the side.
Berntsen shoots in but Tigh avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Berntsen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Tigh is looking for a sweep. Berntsen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Berntsen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tigh sees it coming and defends easily.
Tigh is trying to control but can't.

Berntsen wants to work for an arm triangle but Tigh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Tigh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Berntsen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Berntsen is looking to stall here but Tigh recovers full guard.

Berntsen has gone for a leg lock! Tigh slips out almost immediately though and dives into Berntsen's guard.

Berntsen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tigh defends well.
Berntsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Berntsen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tigh defends it easily.

Berntsen is looking for a triangle but Tigh pushes his legs off easily.

Tigh wants to control from the top but Berntsen keeps moving.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tigh slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Tigh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Berntsen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Tigh tries to advance to mount but can't.

Tigh wants to lay and pray for a moment but Berntsen keeps working.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Berntsen is looking to reverse the position.

Tigh wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Berntsen, who protects the arm well.
Berntsen is looking for a sweep.
Berntsen is working hard here to advance position.

Tigh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Berntsen has escaped the position, nice work there.
Berntsen sneaks back into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Saul Tigh will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Tigh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Berntsen is pushing down on Tigh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tigh is fighting to maintain full guard but Berntsen has managed to sneak the leg through.

Tigh is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Berntsen is aware though and is defending well.

Tigh avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Berntsen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Berntsen works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Tigh gets full guard.
Ronny Berntsen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Berntsen has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Tigh to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Berntsen is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Tigh pulls down on the head and he's put Berntsen to sleep! This one is all over!
