PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rasta Fary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riku Reipas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fary comes into the arena with El toro guapo blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Rasta Fary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Riku Reipas!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reipas has his takedown stuffed
and Fary counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Reipas takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Fary uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Reipas has time to react.
Reipas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Sloppy strikes from Fary. Those never looked like landing.

Fary gets caught flat footed, as Reipas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fary bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reipas's guard.

Reipas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fary is aware though and is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fary trying to control but Reipas is working from the bottom.

Fary postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Fary might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Reipas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fary stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reipas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Reipas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fary gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Reipas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fary defends well.

Fary throws a strike but Reipas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Reipas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fary keeping moving, preventing Reipas from controlling successfully.

Reipas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fary looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fary looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fary!

Fary tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Reipas sneaks back into half guard.

Reipas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Fary stands up over Reipas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Reipas is looking for a triangle here but Fary uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Fary decides to stand back up. Fary steps back and let's Reipas get back to his feet.
Rasta Fary seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fary moves into the clinch.
Fary lands an elbow inside that Reipas shrugs off.
Fary lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Fary lands with a left to the head.

Fary's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Reipas has his takedown stuffed
and Fary counters with an outside leg kick.

Fary clinches up against the cage.

Reipas tries to pull guard but Fary won't allow it.
Rasta Fary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Riku Reipas.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Reipas jumps guard.

Reipas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Fary is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Reipas.
Reipas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fary wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Reipas looking for a sweep but Fary has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Reipas is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Fary scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fary is working for a kimura but Reipas is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Fary passes to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rasta Fary dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Reipas tries to pull guard but Fary forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Fary digs a right hand underneath Reipas's ribcage. Reipas let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A nice right hand lands inside from Fary.
Reipas is trying to pull guard but Fary turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Fary lands a good knee to the midsection. Reipas won't want to take too many of those.
Reipas is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fary to keep the fight standing.

Fary defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reipas.

Reipas tries to keep at a distance but Fary has taken the fight into the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well Fary has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
