Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Chaney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dallas Riley!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chaney gets caught napping as Riley dives in and scores a takedown. Chaney manages to retain guard.
Riley connects with a couple of short punches.

Riley gets to his feet - Chaney follows without any prompting.
Chaney shoots in but Riley avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Riley moves into the clinch.

Riley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Riley shoots in and gets a takedown into Chaney's guard.
Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chaney swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chaney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Riley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chaney has his foot on Riley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Riley works his way back into a safe position though.
Riley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Chaney shoots in looking for a takedown. Riley tries to sprawl out of it but Chaney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Riley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Riley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dallas Riley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Riley has Chaney pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Riley pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chaney tumbling to the mat - Riley dives into Chaney's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Riley's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Chaney working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Riley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Riley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chaney closes the distance looking to clinch

and Riley moves into the clinch.
Riley gets underhooks to prevent Chaney's takedown attempt.

Riley has hold of one of Chaney's legs. Chaney is fighting the takedown attempt but Riley gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Riley stands and steps away. Chaney gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Riley looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Chaney!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chaney is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Riley gets his way!

Riley throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chaney was covering up waiting for the punch and Riley finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Well Riley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
