Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dec Dogg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Makkea!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makkea with a lazy takedown attempt
and Dogg counters by moving into the clinch.
Dogg breaks from the clinch.
Mark Makkea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dogg fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Makkea, pushing him back against the cage.
Makkea tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dogg smiles and moves away.
Makkea shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dogg counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dec Dogg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Makkea.
Makkea darts in trying to clinch
and Dogg counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Dogg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dogg avoids the body shot from Makkea.
Dogg lands with a hook. Makkea tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Dogg clinches with his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dogg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Makkea fails with the takedown
and Dogg counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Makkea throws a leg kick
and Dogg holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Dogg manages to break the clinch.
Makkea misses with a takedown
and Dogg counters by moving into the clinch.
Dogg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dogg forces Makkea back against the cage and clinches.
Dogg lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Dogg breaks the clinch.
Makkea is looking to score with low kicks.
Makkea tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Dogg counters with a thumping low kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Makkea throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dogg counters by clinching up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dogg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Makkea throws a combination that misses
and Dogg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Makkea looks winded!
Dogg looks to land a combination. Makkea sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Makkea is rocked!
Dogg gets a clinch.
Makkea is still on wobbly legs! Can Dogg finish him?
Dogg lands a nice shot to the body.
Makkea seems to have recovered his senses.
Dogg scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Dogg breaks the clinch.
Dogg closes the distance and clinches.
Makkea is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Dogg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Makkea gets tackled into the cage by Dogg. Dogg maintains the clinch.
Makkea tries to pull guard but Dogg holds him up against the cage and eventually Makkea drops back down to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dogg breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dogg throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Makkea stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Makkea takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Dogg has Makkea up against the cage in a clinch.
Dogg breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Makkea gets tackled into the cage by Dogg. Dogg maintains the clinch.
Dogg lands a big right hand that drops Makkea! The killer instinct kicks in and Dogg finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Dogg!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dec Dogg!
