The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gil gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ezell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gil is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ezell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gil.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seu Gil. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ezell tries for a takedown but Gil circles away easily

and Gil counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ezell!
Ezell is trying to escape the mount.
Ezell avoids a series of strikes thrown by Gil.

Gil thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gil jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ezell manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Ezell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Gil tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gil has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ezell tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gil presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Gil working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Gil trying to control but Ezell is having none of it.
Ezell keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Ezell holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gil tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gil connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gil landing strikes, looking to finish!
Ezell tries to hold on but Gil pushes him away.
Ezell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gil. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gil working for a guillotine from mount but Ezell is in no mood to give up.
Gil sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Gil postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ezell looks a forlorn figure.

The referee warns Ezell that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Gil tries to control but Ezell wriggling away.
A big strike lands for Gil! That's really hurt Ezell and he's turned his back - Gil keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Gil jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
