Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bariga Cocainich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Paterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bariga Cocainich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Paterson!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paterson throws a leg kick but Cocainich sees it coming and moves out of range.
Cocainich dives in and grabs Paterson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Paterson pushes down on Cocainich's head and hops out.
Paterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cocainich swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cocainich throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Paterson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cocainich is in Paterson's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Paterson looking for a guillotine here but Cocainich defends easily.

Cocainich wants to control from the top but Paterson keeps moving.

Paterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cocainich can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cocainich stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cocainich is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Cocainich got a little sloppy there for a moment and Paterson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cocainich has managed to get both his arms back between Paterson's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Paterson is staying active underneath Cocainich, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Cocainich is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Paterson is just riding it out for now. Cocainich eventually gives up the hold.
Cocainich is nestled in close to Paterson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Paterson is looking for a sweep. Cocainich is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cocainich slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cocainich might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Paterson gets his hands free as Cocainich looks to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David Paterson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Paterson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oh but Paterson is tightening it up a little... Cocainich has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Cocainich reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Cocainich taps out! Nice BJJ there by Paterson!
