Russo has chosen Volbeat - The Human Instrument as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas drops his hands momentarily and Russo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A slapping body kick lands there for Russo.
Thomas will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Thomas scores with a kick to the midsection.
Thomas is looking to score with low kicks.
Russo connects with a leg kick. Thomas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Russo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Thomas looks to land a left hand but Russo moved out of range nicely.
Thomas takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Thomas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ash Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Russo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Russo is working to tighten is grip on Thomas's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Thomas has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Russo is really squeezing tight and eventually Thomas passes out! Russo breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
