Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jax Ballo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jax Ballo!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matador misses with a kick to the body.

Ballo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Matador sprawls well initially but Ballo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ballo prevents Matador from improving his position.

Matador is trying to stand up here but Ballo is controlling him well.
Ballo is trying to control the action in half guard but Matador is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ballo seems to be working for a kimura but Matador defends the submission attempt.
Ballo wants to take a breather but Matador is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jax Ballo was stalling too much, according to the referee.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ballo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ballo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Matador controls the pace.

Matador got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ballo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Matador has managed to get both his arms back between Ballo's legs - danger averted.

Matador really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Matador thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ballo's head.

Matador is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ballo still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ballo has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Ballo has control of an arm but Matador manages to advance to Ballo's back!

Matador has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ballo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

No joy there for Matador, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ballo closes the distance and pushes Matador back into the cage.

Ballo tightens his grip and picks Matador up, before dumping him to the ground. Matador manages to land in guard.

Ballo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Matador's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ballo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Matador's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jax Ballo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown by Ballo or perhaps it was just good defense by Matador which made him look bad.
