PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lorenzo Gionathan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Po Panda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gionathan comes into the arena with Swedish House Mafia Vs Tinie Tempah - Miami 2 Ibiza blaring out of the sound system. Panda has chosen Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panda changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gionathan tries to avoid it but Panda manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gionathan to the ground. Gionathan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Gionathan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Panda manages to get to full guard.
Panda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Panda is on top in guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gionathan breaks from Panda's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Gionathan sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Panda is looking to improve his position but Gionathan isn't that keen on the idea.

Gionathan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gionathan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Panda's face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lorenzo Gionathan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gionathan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Panda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gionathan is fending him off so far but Panda persists. Nope, Gionathan circles away and we're back to standing.
Gionathan missing with a left hand there. Panda was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gionathan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Panda is defended easily by Gionathan.
Panda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gionathan's waist but Gionathan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Panda off to one side.
Lorenzo Gionathan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Po Panda.
Gionathan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Panda is fending him off so far but Gionathan persists. Nope, Panda circles away and we're back to standing.
Gionathan closes the distance and clinches up with Panda, looking for a takedown. Gionathan pushes Panda against the cage but Panda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Panda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Panda misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Panda cracks Gionathan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Panda postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Gionathan out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Panda goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
