PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Dibiasse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dibiasse comes to the cage accompanied by Cant tell me nuttin. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ted Dibiasse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Dempsey!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dibiasse misses with a takedown attempt - Dempsey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dibiasse takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dibiasse shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dempsey as he avoids it easily.
Dibiasse closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dempsey circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Dibiasse. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dempsey stuffs the takedown.

Dempsey gets caught flat footed, as Dibiasse shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dibiasse trying to move into half guard but instead Dempsey has managed to sweep!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dempsey trying to control but Dibiasse is working from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dempsey controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Dibiasse manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dempsey is working to get back to half guard.

Dempsey tries to hold on but Dibiasse postures up.
Dibiasse with a couple of short strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dempsey can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dempsey tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Dempsey defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Dibiasse.

Dibiasse working for a guillotine from mount but Dempsey is in no mood to give up.

Dibiasse goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dempsey is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dibiasse is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dempsey loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Dempsey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dempsey trying to control the position from guard on top but Dibiasse is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Dempsey hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Horrible takedown by Dibiasse or perhaps it was just good defense by Dempsey which made him look bad.
Dibiasse closes the distance and clinches up with Dempsey, looking for a takedown. Dibiasse pushes Dempsey against the cage but Dempsey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dempsey scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dibiasse in his tracks.
Dempsey cracks Dibiasse with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Dempsey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dibiasse tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dempsey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dibiasse somewhat.
Dempsey thuds a left hand into Dibiasse's body.
Dibiasse is breathing heavily.
Dibiasse fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dempsey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dibiasse.
Dibiasse shoots and misses
and Dempsey counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dempsey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dibiasse shoots in looking for a takedown. Dempsey tries to sprawl out of it but Dibiasse keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dempsey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Dempsey dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dibiasse looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dempsey is fending him off so far but Dibiasse persists. Nope, Dempsey circles away and we're back to standing.

Dempsey lands a big uppercut and Dibiasse crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Dibiasse looks OK. Dempsey waves Dibiasse back to his feet!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Dibiasse has his takedown stuffed
and Dempsey counters with a big left hand that crumples Dibiasse! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Dempsey!
