Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Franco Micheli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Franco Micheli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Rio!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Micheli is defended easily by Rio.
Micheli wants to clinch but Rio slips to the side

and Rio moves into the clinch.
Micheli pushes off an throws an elbow but Rio leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Micheli is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Micheli trying to land knees to the body.
Micheli tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Rio has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Micheli clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Micheli manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rio's guard. Nice work there by Micheli.
Micheli looking to sit in guard and control but Rio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Micheli is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Micheli has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rio is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Micheli.

Rio looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Micheli can't do much from the bottom here.

Rio has control of an arm but Micheli manages to advance to Rio's back!
Rio trying to survive by controlling the hands.

Rio defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Micheli's arms.

Micheli has got his arm under Rio's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Rio has spun round into Micheli's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Rio decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Micheli, up you get!

Rio slips a nice elbow through Micheli's hands, connecting with Micheli's forehead.

Rio tries for a takedown but Micheli sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Micheli gets tackled into the cage by Rio. Rio maintains the clinch.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Micheli tries to sprawl but Rio drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Rio is taking a breather. Micheli says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Rio is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Micheli defends it well.

Rio decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Rio rushes Micheli and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rio tightens his grip and picks Micheli up, before dumping him to the ground. Micheli manages to land in guard.

Micheli throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rio escapes and throws Micheli's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Rio is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Micheli will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Micheli is trying to work for a sweep but Rio has mounted him!

Rio with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Dave Rio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rio has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
