PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luis Chalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Hellio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hellio has chosen Wild Boys as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luis Chalas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Hellio!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chalas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Dan Hellio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hellio tries for a takedown but Chalas circles away easily
and Chalas counters with a one-two to the body.
Chalas ducks under a wild hook from Hellio.

Chalas moves into range and clinches up with Hellio.
Chalas misses with a hook to the ribs.
Chalas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hellio walks away with a smile on his face. Chalas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hellio closes the distance and clinches up with Chalas, looking for a takedown. Hellio pushes Chalas against the cage but Chalas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Chalas misses the shot to the body.
Chalas with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hellio to score with a decent uppercut.
A lazy left from Hellio finds it's target.

and Chalas counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chalas.
Luis Chalas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Hellio.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chalas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chalas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Chalas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Chalas drops back looking for a leg! Hellio is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hellio manages to kick Chalas off! Chalas jumps back into Hellio's guard.
Chalas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hellio's guard.

Chalas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hellio doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chalas.

Chalas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hellio is just riding it out for now. Chalas eventually gives up the hold.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hellio is trying to maintain the position but Chalas is very close to passing his half guard.

Chalas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hellio defends it well.

Hellio wants to control but Chalas is keeping busy.

Chalas wants to work for an arm triangle but Hellio is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chalas is working for a kimura but Hellio is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Hellio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chalas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hellio has managed to get both his arms back between Chalas's legs - danger averted.

Chalas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hellio throws a big elbow that misses.
Hellio is looking to work some ground and pound but Chalas has wrist control.
Hellio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luis Chalas dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hellio shoots for a takedown but Chalas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Chalas moves into the clinch.
Chalas tries to pull guard but Hellio holds him up against the cage and eventually Chalas drops back down to his feet.

Chalas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hellio trying to control but Chalas is working from the bottom.
Luis Chalas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Chalas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chalas has his foot on Hellio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hellio works his way back into a safe position though.

Hellio is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Chalas has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Hellio is looking to defend but Chalas has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Hellio! Chalas pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Hellio taps out and this one is all over!
