Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mingus Major (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bova's entrance music is I came to bring the pain!. A fine choice. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Bova! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mingus Major! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Major fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Major shoots in for a double leg but Bova sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Bova fails with a takedown attempt. Bova avoids the head kick by Major.
Bova will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Major tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bova sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Major somewhat. Tony Bova has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mingus Major. Major doesn't succeed with the takedown so Bova counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bova accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bova throws an elbow that misses. Major uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bova's guard. Nice move by Major! Bova looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Major controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Bova trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Major slips nicely into half guard. Major trying to pass the guard but Bova defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bova is trying to control but can't.
Well, if Major is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Bova slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Major is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Major advances position into side control! Bova has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bova gets back to half guard. Bova is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Major's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Major's back! Can Major hold on?! Bova is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Bova lands punches and elbows. Bova looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Bova lands strikes to the head. Bova loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Major hold on?
Major is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Major covering up well and avoiding damage. Bova throwing damaging strikes from the back! Major could be in trouble here!
Major is still in real trouble! Can Bova finish him?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bova lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Bova gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Bova lands a good shot there. Major covers up! Bova smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Major to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Bova jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Bova! An out of breath and clearly excited Tony Bova thanked Das Labor for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
