Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Homer Francisco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jerome Wilson! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson misses the shot to the body. Wilson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Francisco sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Francisco dodges the punch combination from Wilson.
Francisco closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Francisco lands in his opponent's guard. Wilson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Francisco works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wilson is looking to improve his position.
Francisco content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Francisco moves into full mount! Wilson won't be happy about that!
That's one minute gone in the round. Francisco scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Wilson?
Francisco gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Wilson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Wilson closes the distance looking to clinch and Francisco counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Francisco. Francisco sitting in guard, not really doing much. Francisco distracts Wilson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Francisco looking to sit in guard and control but Wilson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wilson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Francisco has control of Wilson's left arm, preventing Wilson from doing any damage. Wilson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Wilson cracks Francisco with a solid left hand. Wilson prevents Francisco from getting back to his feet. Francisco will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Francisco is looking for a triangle but Wilson pushes his legs off easily.
Francisco pulls Wilson in to control the position. Wilson trying to control but Francisco is working from the bottom. Francisco is trying to control the position but Wilson postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Francisco keeping moving, preventing Wilson from controlling successfully. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Wilson has eaten all the pies! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Wilson stopping the sweep attempt from Francisco.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Wilson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Francisco shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Francisco showed some decent athleticism there. Wilson looks winded! Francisco works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Francisco fails to advance to Wilson's back. Francisco looking to control but Wilson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Francisco is working for a guillotine from mount but Wilson frees his head quite easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Francisco wants to control the pace but Wilson is squirming around nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Homer Francisco dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Francisco misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Francisco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wilson's waist but Wilson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Francisco off to one side. Wilson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Francisco paws at him with a jab and circles away. Francisco wants to clinch. Wilson throws a right and a left that Francisco avoids nicely. Wilson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Francisco dives in and grabs Wilson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wilson pushes down on Francisco's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Homer Francisco. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Francisco darts in and clinches Wilson up against the cage. Francisco's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Francisco shoots in but no luck this time. Wilson fails in his attempt to clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wilson. Wilson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Francisco swivels and escapes. Wilson is breathing heavily. Wilson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Francisco is defended easily by Wilson. Homer Francisco is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wilson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilson leaves Francisco with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Wilson gets tackled into the cage by Francisco. Francisco maintains the clinch. Wilson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Francisco smiles and moves away.
No luck for Wilson with that takedown attempt. Francisco has a takedown stuffed. Francisco moves into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Francisco has Wilson pressed against the cage, preventing Wilson from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Francisco breaks from the clinch.
Francisco closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wilson circles away. Wilson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Francisco closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Francisco working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Francisco tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Francisco has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Francisco is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wilson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Francisco tries to advance to mount but Wilson instead regains half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wilson is staying active underneath Francisco, who seems content to just control the action from this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Homer Francisco dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Wilson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Wilson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Wilson tries to clinch but Francisco moves away and Francisco counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wilson won't be happy with that. Wilson is trying to get back to half guard. Francisco is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wilson has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson is trying to get back to half guard. Francisco in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Wilson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Francisco slows the pace down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Francisco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Francisco tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Francisco has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Francisco has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Wilson wants to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Francisco clinches up against the cage. Wilson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wilson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Francisco lands with a short head shot on the inside. Francisco gets control of Wilson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Francisco will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Francisco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wilson's guard. Wilson wants to sweep here but Francisco controlling him for the moment. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Francisco gets to his feet - Wilson follows without any prompting.

Nice sprawl there from Wilson as Francisco shoots in. Wilson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wilson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Wilson moves in looking to clinch but Francisco pushes him off. Francisco looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wilson is fending him off so far but Francisco persists. Nope, Wilson circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Homer Francisco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Francisco shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wilson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Wilson wants to stand but Francisco is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Francisco defends it easily. Francisco trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wilson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Francisco controls the pace. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilson wants to stand and escape but Francisco is having none of it. Jerome Wilson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Homer Francisco is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wilson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Homer Francisco showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Francisco, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
