PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Duran Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leslie Morrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Duran might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hungry like the wolf. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duran Duran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leslie Morrow!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duran throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morrow was covering up waiting for the punch and Duran finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Morrow throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Morrow has control of Duran's left arm, preventing Duran from doing any damage.
Morrow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Morrow kicks Duran off and gets to his feet.
Duran avoids a kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duran pushes Morrow up against the cage in a clinch.
Duran can't break the clinch.
Duran has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Duran wants to get back to striking at distance but Morrow won't allow it.

Morrow is working for takedown but Duran is calmly controlling the position for now.

Morrow turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Morrow manages to end up in side control.

Duran gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Morrow looking to control and managing it successfully.
Let's hope that Morrow has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Leslie Morrow.

Morrow darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Duran regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Morrow.
Duran is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Morrow sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Duran's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Morrow is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leslie Morrow dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Morrow blocks a head kick by Duran.
Duran scores with a three punch combo!
Morrow ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Morrow chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Duran can pounce on him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morrow moves away from the strike by Duran.

Morrow closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Morrow looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Morrow not doing much here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Leslie Morrow wasn't active enough on the ground.
The crowd cheers as Duran lands an impressive looking overhand right. Morrow doesn't seem phased though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Morrow darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Morrow keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Duran taking some punishment here, with Morrow in his half guard.

Morrow stops Duran from getting back to his feet.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Morrow passes to side control.
Morrow content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Morrow passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Duran!

Leslie Morrow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Morrow drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Morrow passes Duran's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Morrow sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Morrow works his way into side control.
Duran tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Morrow wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Morrow advances to full mount.
Morrow takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Morrow fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Morrow has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Morrow content just to control the position here.
Duran Duran has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Leslie Morrow is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Leslie Morrow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Morrow winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
