PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cyborg Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturo Gatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cyborg Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arturo Gatti!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatti avoids the body shot from Santos.
Gatti misses with a wild body shot.
Santos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Arturo Gatti has been cut.
Santos takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gatti's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Santos connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gatti scrambles back to his feet.
Santos avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Santos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gatti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gatti feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Santos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gatti seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gatti prevents Santos from getting back to his feet.

Gatti gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Santos throws a leg kick that misses.
Santos throws a jab when Gatti was well out of range.
Santos throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gatti on the side of the head.
Gatti looks to land a combination but Santos avoids it well.
A left and a right from Gatti both land. Nice combination.
Santos throws a shot from downtown. Gatti moves away and avoids it.
Gatti thows a body shot but no joy.
Gatti swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Santos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Santos drops Gatti with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Gatti looks back up at him and smiles so Santos waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Gatti is rocked!

That has opened up Arturo Gatti's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gatti displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Santos throws out the jab.
Gatti is still on wobbly legs! Can Santos finish him?
Gatti falls off balance throwing a combination
and Santos counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!
