PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peyton Hillis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jensen comes into the arena with Devour blaring out of the sound system. Peyton Hillis is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gunnar Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peyton Hillis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jensen closes the distance and clinches.
Jensen throws a head punch that misses.
A nice left hand lands by Hillis.
Jensen swings wildly with an uppercut but Hillis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jensen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Jensen has Hillis pressed against the ropes, preventing Hillis from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Jensen misses with some punches.
Hillis is looking to break free of the clinch but Jensen has double underhooks.
Jensen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hillis blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jensen taking a breather.
Jensen tries to work over Hillis's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hillis controlling the action here for a moment.

Hillis manages to break the clinch.
Hillis misses with a double jab.
Jensen throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Hillis counters with a lovely shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hillis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hillis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jensen.
Hillis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Jensen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A leg kick checked by Jensen.
Hillis on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hillis takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Jensen feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hillis sprawling to the canvas! Hillis rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Jensen finish him?!


It looks like Peyton Hillis has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jensen closes the distance and clinches.
Hillis is trying to break the clinch but Jensen has him pressed against the ropes.

Hillis breaks the clinch.

Jensen throws a right hand that misses

and Hillis counters by clinching up.
Still in the clinch, Hillis scores with a nice short uppercut.

Hillis breaks from the clinch.
Gunnar Jensen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jensen misses with an uppercut. Hillis saw that one coming.
Jensen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Hillis forces Jensen back against the ropes and clinches.
Jensen works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Jensen tries a body shot but Hillis blocks it.
Jensen tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Jensen is trying to push Hillis away but Hillis has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

Hillis lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Jensen managing to block the knees to the body from Hillis.
Hillis tries to break the clinch but Jensen is controlling the position.

Hillis is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jensen is keeping busy.
Hillis is looking to break free of the clinch but Jensen has double underhooks.
Hillis tries to throw a body punch but Jensen avoids it by throwing Hillis back against the ropes.
Hillis can't break the clinch.

Hillis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hillis tries to clinch up but Jensen circles away and keeps his distance.

and Jensen counters with a body kick.
Jensen stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A shot to the body from Jensen misses

and Hillis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hillis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jensen throws a series of punches but Hillis avoids them all with ease.

Hillis moves into range and clinches up with Jensen.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jensen is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Jensen works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Hillis digs a right hand into Jensen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jensen's gas tank.

Hillis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Hillis. No joy for Jensen on that attempt.

Hillis moves into the clinch successfully.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jensen scores with a nice hook to the head.
Hillis is trying to break the clinch but Jensen has him pressed against the ropes.
Hillis makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Hillis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunnar Jensen dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Peyton Hillis's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Hillis moves into the clinch successfully.
Hillis blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jensen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hillis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Hillis is trying to break free.
Hillis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jensen has him pressed against the ropes.
A frustrated look appears on Hillis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Jensen.

Hillis breaks the clinch.
Jensen rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hillis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hillis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Peyton Hillis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hillis throws a right and a left that Jensen avoids nicely.
Hillis avoids the body shot from Jensen.
Hillis blocks a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jensen circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jensen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hillis quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jensen lands a nice short elbow.
Jensen trying to pass the guard but Hillis defending well.
Jensen stops Hillis from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Jensen is trying to work for a kimura but Hillis is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jensen is stalling here. Hillis is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jensen seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hillis has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Hillis stands up and beckons Jensen to his feet.
Jensen lands with a cross.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jensen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hillis moves to clinch but Jensen breaks away
and Jensen counters with a big right hand! Oh Hillis is in trouble here! Jensen follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gunnar Jensen!
Our winner, Gunnar Jensen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
