Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Meadows! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Crying Freeman! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meadows throws a right hand that Freeman ducks under and follows up with a left that Freeman also avoids with ease. Meadows shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Meadows showed some decent athleticism there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Meadows stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Meadows goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Meadows fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Meadows drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Meadows lands a couple of elbows. Freeman looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Meadows slips nicely into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Meadows prevents Freeman from improving his position. Freeman is trying to control but Meadows manages to pass to mount!
Freeman wants to hold on but Meadows pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meadows breaks from Freeman's wrist control and lands an elbow. Meadows looking for a guillotine from mount but Freeman is having none of it. Freeman is trying to stand up. Meadows lands a big shot there that rocks Freeman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Meadows content just to control the position here. Freeman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Meadows fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Freeman is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meadows with good strikes from the mount here! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Meadows pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Freeman bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Freeman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Meadows is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Freeman, into his guard. Freeman looks winded! Meadows working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Meadows lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Meadows connects with a couple of short punches. Meadows passes Freeman's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Freeman is looking to improve his position.
Meadows has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Freeman defend it? Meadows steps over the head and cranks it - Freeman is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Meadows!
