PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kraud Kleen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kraud Kleen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randall White!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kleen fails in his attempt to clinch.

White gets a clinch.
Kleen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. White smiles and moves away.
Kleen shoots in and drives through. White sprawls well.

Kleen closes the distance and clinches.

White tightens his grip and picks Kleen up, before dumping him to the ground. Kleen manages to land in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
White throws a big elbow that misses.
White is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kleen looking for a sweep. Not yet Kleen, not yet.
Kleen is working hard here to advance position.

White postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kleen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of White, into his guard.

White has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kleen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

White clinches up with Kleen and pushes him back against the cage.

Kleen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics White uses from the top position.
White looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Kleen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Let's hope that White has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

White seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kleen tries to buck White off but White is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
White taking a breather here.

White goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kleen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for White but great work by Kleen.
White is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kleen off and has taken his back!

White gets his hands free as Kleen looks to control.

White has the hooks in. Kleen is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
White has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kleen's body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
White controlling the position well here. Kleen rolled but White kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randall White dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Kleen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as White sprawls well. White wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kleen gets slowly back to his feet.
A left lands for White.
White moves out of range as Kleen strikes.
Kleen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kleen.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kraud Kleen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

White shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kleen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but White scores with a couple of nice shots.

White stands up out of the half guard.
Kleen walks into a stiff left hand from White.
Kleen shoots in looking for a takedown but White manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kleen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
White leaves Kleen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kleen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A head kick by White misses
and Kleen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
White tries to bum rush Kleen with a series of wild strikes but Kleen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

White postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kleen to stand up.
Kleen shoots in looking for a takedown but White manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kleen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kleen tries to clinch but White is having none of it.
White throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

White shoots in and gets a takedown into Kleen's guard.
White engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
White pushes down on Kleen's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Kleen is looking to control White's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kleen avoid being mounted?

White is trying to work for a kimura but Kleen is defending well.
White uses his free foot to push down on Kleen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kleen.

Randall White has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kleen is trying to escape the mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kleen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randall White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

White fails to pull guard.
Kleen lands a nice elbow.
Kleen tries to pull guard but White holds him up against the cage and eventually Kleen drops back down to his feet.
White wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kleen jumps guard but White turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

White ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. White no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

White is looking for a triangle but Kleen pushes his legs off easily.
Kleen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.

White looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kleen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

White has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kleen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

White is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Kleen frees his head nicely. Oh but White has switched to an armbar! Kleen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
