Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandez instigates a clinch.
Fernandez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fernandez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Paqiuo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fernandez is keeping the position for now.
Paqiuo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fernandez is pulling down on Paqiuo's head to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fernandez is on top in guard.
Fernandez prevents Paqiuo from getting back to his feet.

Fernandez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fernandez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Paqiuo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Fernandez.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fernandez has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Fernandez is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Paqiuo is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Fernandez looking for a guillotine from mount but Paqiuo is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fernandez misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Paqiuo wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Fernandez.

Paqiuo is squirming around, avoiding Fernandez's attempts to control the action.
Fernandez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Paqiuo is surviving well by controlling Fernandez's body position as best he can.
Fernandez won't let Paqiuo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Fernandez has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Paqiuo is forced to tap!

Jason Fernandez spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
