Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Gonzalez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalez throws a head kick that half lands.
Gonzalez throws a left and a right that both miss
and Aldo counters with a body kick. Ricardo Gonzalez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gonzalez moves out of range as Aldo throws a body kick.

Aldo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Aldo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gonzalez to his feet. Gonzalez thows a leg kick but Aldo checks it and Aldo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gonzalez looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gonzalez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aldo pulls his head out easily. Gonzalez looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Aldo pushes past his half guard into mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aldo looking to control and managing it successfully. Aldo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gonzalez is looking to escape. Gonzalez is trying to reverse the position but instead Aldo has taken his back - oops! Gonzalez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aldo on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez is trying to get back to his feet but Aldo has full control of the position and if anything, Gonzalez has just worked his way into a worse spot. Aldo is looking for the choke from the back position but Gonzalez is controlling his hands well. Gonzalez looking very determined here, making life difficult for Aldo.

Good control from Aldo. Gonzalez is trying to get back to his feet but Aldo has full control of the position and if anything, Gonzalez has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Aldo is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gonzalez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Gonzalez is really stuck here.
This has been an exciting period of action! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gonzalez has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Gonzalez breaks Aldo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Gonzalez wanted to stand there but Aldo had control of the position. Gonzalez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Aldo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Aldo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Aldo!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Aldo advances to mount. Aldo manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gonzalez to take his back! Gonzalez looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. You can see the frustration on Gonzalez's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That's four minutes gone in the round. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aldo is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Gonzalez taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Aldo.
