Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Nevsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rob Coogan!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coogan fails with the takedown

and Nevsky counters with a takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nevsky tries to score with some ground and pound. Coogan controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Coogan throws a right hand that Nevsky ducks under and follows up with a left that Nevsky also avoids with ease.
Coogan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nevsky sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Coogan somewhat.

Coogan gets caught flat footed, as Nevsky shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nevsky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nevsky lands a couple of digs.

Coogan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nevsky looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nevsky looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nevsky!

Coogan is sitting in close to Nevsky's body. Nevsky has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Coogan is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Coogan is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Nevsky.
